Written on the island of Rottnest off the coast of Fremantle, Western Australia. I discovered a beautiful beach that was hidden away off the beaten track and it inspired me to write about the experience,

Sometimes when you stay on track,
You miss what it's all about.
And in the end, you can't be content,
Until you've figured it out.
Just like today with the sky covered grey,
My feet couldn't find their way back.
So I took my life, and weighed it with strife.
Decided that I'd leave the track.

Could never have guessed what I'd find.
If you're ever that way go see it some time.

My stairway of gold.
Behind lay the footprints of the righteous I'm told.
Stairway of gold.
One look for me, forever I'm sold.

The rain came in fast at 25 past.
Before long I was soaking wet.
I didn't want to leave my discovery,
For fear that I would forget.
So I sort advice from a wise young device.
She told me I couldn't go wrong,
And then she said, document.
Now put that shit into a song.

It's not far away from the Old Barracks track.
A little bit further and over the back...
